1/6/2026: A happy new year

I recently posted a link to my site on the Tabletop Sports board of Delphi Forums, and I’m absolutely blown away by the response I’ve gotten so far. In a way, I made the post on a whim and thought maybe I’d get a few clicks or some interest here or there, but I’ve seen so much more than I could have expected.

So, with this in mind, here are some thoughts from the last couple weeks:

  • If I had known I’d see such an influx of interest, I would have chosen to post at a time when I wasn’t (1) trying to finish all my work before the holidays, (2) attending a number of family engagements, (3) travelling for multiple days, (4) dealing with a broken furnace in sub-20 degree weather, or (5) following around my toddler all day while he tries to turn the TV on. Oh well, live and learn.
  • I’m surprised to see so much interest in Pile Up Racing, but I suppose I shouldn’t be, considering the number of “looking for a good racing game” posts on Delphi. Hopefully, this
  • The One-Pager games were very popular, didn’t see that coming at all. But I guess I wasn’t the only one looking for a quick, compact sim that’s light on instructions. I’m glad to see it!
  • There’s a lot of interest in historical seasons (awesome! they’re my favorite kind of season), especially in soccer, and I’ve already started working on some. Expect those at some point this month.
  • Doing it all again, I would’ve triple checked that all my files were uploaded. Oops. (Thanks for everyone’s patience while I completed the Pile Up Racing instructions, which I didn’t expect to be the longest thing I’ve written since my master’s thesis.)

All told, please don’t take any of this as complaining; I’m actually ecstatic this went so well! Sharing these games that I’ve loved playing by myself and seeing other people enjoy them has been a thrill beyond my expectations.

Thanks to everyone who has checked out my games (and especially those that contributed to my Ko-Fi)! Your interest has ignited my passion for making these, so check back often to see what else I add.

I’m looking forward to 2026 on Short Season Games!

December 2025 updates

Just a couple updates for this pre-holiday December season:

  • The 2024-2025 sports season will soon be the most represented on the site. I’ve recently uploaded that year for the NHL (Simple Seasons Hockey) and NBA (SS Basketball), while the NLL (SS Lacrosse) is in progress. Those will join the already-available 2025 WNBA (SSBk), 2025 PLL (SSL), and 2024-2025 NBA (One-Pager Pro Basketball).
  • I’m beginning to branch out into fictional leagues! You’ll notice the 2024-2025 Can-Am Box Lacrosse League season (Final Edition) as well as the current 2025-2026 team ratings are uploaded to Simple Seasons Lacrosse. I hope to have more about this soon!
  • And I’ve been playing around with a baseball sim (yet again). Developments are positive, so stay tuned for that.

The One-Pager universe expands

After a good deal of experimenting, I think I’ve finally worked out a basketball version of One-Pager. As with the original soccer version, I was trying to make a game that could fit on one printed page yet deliver a little more complexity than a Simple Seasons score generator. And thanks to pace stats and per-100-possession numbers, I think I’ve got what I was looking for.

One-Pager Pro Basketball breaks a quarter down into 7 parts (so slightly under 2 minutes each) and determines how much scoring is done by each team in those parts. (I had intended to break it down into 2-minute parts–about 4 possessions for each team–but I couldn’t quite get the scoring to work out. Turns out 7 parts worked much better!) That might sound a little dry, but it’s actually quite engaging, especially when you have a tie game going into the last section (from my testing: Washington 103, Sacramento 101).

Right now, I have the last two NBA seasons uploaded, but I hope to get more up soon. This game might end up skewing towards modern seasons due to stats availability, but I’ll do what I can.

So please, go check it out, let me know what you think, and thanks for playing!
